After 14 years of continuous stage performances and about 500 concerts, we decided to do a professional live recording. It was sort of a test of strength! We wanted to see if we could play so well that we could release the recordings unpolished. We picked out an extra-special venue for the purpose, and went to see our friends in Altkalen, a picturesque village in the east of Mecklenburg Vorpommen state. It was here, at the Mühlenfest, that our live double LP/CD/VHS – „Roggen Roll“ – came into being. We made a conscious decision to do without studio sound touch-ups and suchlike funny business, so you can experience us live and direct on this album.
