Eine schwere Platte. Am 17. 1. 2005 verstarb unser Bassist und Bandgründungsmitglied Marko „Busch’n“ Busch nach langer, schwerer Krankheit. Die Aufnahmen im Whiteline Studio zu Braunschweig zogen sich lange hin, zunächst in der Hoffnung, dass Busch’n wieder auf die Beine kommt und wir die Platte gemeinsam aufnehmen und dann einfach durch den Schock und die Trauer. Am 26. 9. 2005 erschien dann aber doch mit „Fortschritt“ unser (verflixtes) siebtes deutschsprachiges Album auf unserem bandeigenen Label DRITTE WAHL Records. "Wir machen hier keine Jammerplatte!" hat Busch’n uns bei den Proben immer wieder gesagt und daran haben wir uns auch gehalten. Zu hören gibt es 13 neue Songs (teilweise schon nach den neuen Rechtschreibregeln!), eine Coverversion des Rote Gitarren Hits „Weißes Boot“ und eine plattdeutsche Fassung von „Hoch im Norden“. Musikalisch und textlich geht es quer durch den Gemüsegarten: Da gibt es schnelle, harte, politische Stücke, groovige Songs mit Geschichten aus dem Leben, Reggae-Beats bis hin zum vollakustischen Lied „Auf der Flucht“ in dem es um Abschied, Hoffnung und irgendwie doch um Busch’n geht. Unterstützt wurden wir bei den Aufnahmen durch Kollegen von Corvus Corax, den Crushing Caspars, Daily Terror, Final Virus, Freygang, Höart! Höart! Höart!, Lady Godiva, Mainpoint und Tanzwut. Die CD-Erstauflage enthält eine Bonus CD mit dem Soundtrack zum Film „Wenn man schon ein Schiff hat...“ aus dem Jahre 2000 (Aber Achtung !!! DRITTE WAHL – Instrumental !!!). Das Vinyl gab es auch als limitierte Picture-LP.
A difficult album. On the 17th of January 2005, our bassist and original member, Marko „Busch’n“ Busch, died after prolonged, severe illness. The recordings at the Whiteline Studios in Braunschweig took a long time, at first in the hope that Busch’n would get back on his feet and we could do the recording together, and then just from the shock and grief. Then on September 26th 2005, „Fortschritt“, our (cursed) seventh German album, came out after all on our band’s own label, DRITTE WAHL Records. At the rehearsals, Busch’n told us again and again, „We’re not making a misery album here!“ and we’ve stuck by that.There are 13 new songs to listen to, a cover of the Rote Gitarren (‘The Red Guitars’) hit, „Weißes Boot“ (‘White Boat’), and a Low German dialect version of „Hoch im Norden“, (‘Way Up North’). Both musically and lyrically, it’s a real mixed bag: there are fast, hard, political pieces; groovy songs with stories from our lives; reggae beats; right across the board to the fully acoustic, Auf der Flucht (‘On the Run’), which is about saying goodbye, about hope, and somehow about Busch’n, too. During the recordings, we were supported by our colleagues from Corvus Corax, The Crushing Caspars, Daily Terror, Final Virus, Freygang, Höart! Höart! Höart!, Lady Godiva, Mainpoint and Tanzwut. The CD first edition contains a bonus CD with the soundtrack to the film, „Wenn man schon ein Schiff hat…“ (‘If you’ve already got a ship…’) from the year 2000. But watch out!! DRITTE WAHL play instrumentals!!! The vinyl was also available as a limited edition picture LP.
